The core objective of the course is to make students aware of foundations, place and role of the U.S. foreign policy in the world system in four contexts: 1) formal basis of U.S. foreign policy (legal basis etc.); 2) foundations of the U.S. policy (culture, history, doctrines, societal factors etc.); 3) practical functioning of the U.S foreign policy (case studies from Korean War till Iraq); 4) role and place of the U.S. foreign policy in the post-Cold War order from International Relations theory perspective. Functional topics will also covered: U.S. military policy, U.S. economic foreign policy and U.S. policy towards human rights.
